Which swimfin is best for me?

eBodyboarding Swimfin Guide
A fun experience starts with great swimfins.

Whether you are a Bodyboarder, a Bodysurfer, a Junior Guard or a Navy Seal, finding a good pair of swimfins is essential to your experience in the water.  Not every person has the same foot shape and size, and not every swimfin brand has the same pocket shape or size for you.  It's important that you find the right pair for your activity and one that fits your style and feet. There are so many choices out there so we are here to help guide your little pinkies in the right direction.

Comfort is ultimately the number one factor.

It's very important to note that a size M in one fin isn't necessarily the same size as a size M in another fin.  Another important tip is if you are in between sizes or on the border between sizes, then our advice is to go up to the bigger size.  Most of the time you can make a bigger fin fit but you can't make a smaller fin fit.  See "Swimfin Accessories" for items to help you bet a better fit.

What are you using them for?
When you are shopping for swimfins it's important to know what activity you are using them for. Identify your use below and check out the swimfins we recommend.

eBodyboarding Jr. Guards Swimfin Guide

Jr. Guards Swimfins

We don't want kids to cry "wee wee wee" all the way home when their little piggies don't fit into a swimfin correctly.  We suggest going up in size for most kids and use the Flipper Slipper or the CInch Sock for the best fit.  This will enable them to grow into them instead of out of them also. We recommend the Tribe T2 Swimfins, the Hydro Swimfins, Dafin, Duckfeet or Custom X swimfins.

Bodyboarders

If you are like me, your bodyboarding sessions are a good hour or two, so you will be kicking for a long time. Therefore it is important to find a fin that is the best fit for you and the most comfortable. Make sure you look at the sizing chart and also take advantage of our "Swimfin Accessories" for optimum performance and comfort.

Dropknee

Dropknee riders prefer shorter fins, and riders who are newer to the sport do better with lighter weight fins as they are easier to kick.
We recommend a shorter blade fin like the Tribe T1 or T2, Hydrofins, MS Vipers, Dubb Zeros, or Kicks.

Bodysurfing

We recommend the Tribe T2, Dafin, Duckfeet, and Vipers. Bodysurfers tend to prefer fins with stiffer, and sometimes longer blades with very defined vertical edges for control.

Navy Seals / Free Diving Swimfin Guide

Navy Seals / Free Diving

We recommend the UDT Duckfeet. It's all about power, so longer fins will give ocean swimmers the thrust they need.

Snorkeling / Recreation Swimfin Guide

Snorkeling / Recreation

We recommend a comfortable fin that fits your foot and your budget. Any swimfin we carry will work well for snorkeling. Generally, it's most important here to have a comfortable fin. Snorkeling is about cruising around checking the sea life, not worrying about an uncomfortable fin!

Women's Swimfin Guide

Women's Swimfin Guide

Many women funny enough fit in between sizes of a lot of swimfins. The sizes listed in the size charts are mens sizing also, so make sure you size down appropriately to the corresponding womens size. Vicki for example wears a size 7-7.5 in womens shoes and she LOVES the T2 Swimfins in size MS with a Cinch Sock, "this is an awesome fit!" she says.

Swimfin Accessories
Not all accessories are needed but if your fin are not snug, we recommend fin tethers.

Heelpad Tethers
Heel Pads

Heel pads with tethers. Tethers are leashes for your fins. When they get blown off your feet (which will happen sooner or later), you'll be able to reach down and slip them back on.

Cinch Tether
Cinch Tethers

This is a combination heel pad/instep strap. It's purpose is to use the instep strap to hold the heel strap of the fin on your heel so it won't come off. This will snug up a fin that's slightly loose.

Fin socks
Fin Socks

This is a 2mm neoprene sock that covers all the parts of your foot that the fins touch, so it prevents blisters that occur from your fins rubbing against your feet. It will add one shoe size to your foot, so factor that in when choosing your swimfin size.

Heel Pad Cinch Sock

This combines the comfort of a fin sock with the utility of a cinch. It features a standard fin sock that attaches to the heel strap of the fin with Velcro, and has the instep strap to keep the fin on your foot. It will add one shoe size to your foot, so factor that in when choosing your swimfin size.

Booties Swimfin Accessorie Guide

Bodyboaridng in the cold? You'll need booties. If you do get booties then youll need to get new fins as they add a shoes size to your foot. If you get 5MM Booties youll need to go two sizes up.
